The Barefoot Bay Villa

The Barefoot Bay Villa was a rare opportunity for a design practice: an exercise in being your own client on a new build. This allowed Melissa the opportunity to explore and express many things she and her design practice always wanted to – from unique textures and finishes to ambitious design elements.

The result is a home for those who love the great outdoors and chic interiors in equal measure, achieved in part through tasteful selection and placement of Trend windows and doors that match the home’s Byron-inspired palette with their matt Textura black finish.

On the coast, the weather can change in the blink of an eye. Hot, sunny days give way to refreshing afternoon breezes. Subtropical downpours come quickly, and temperatures sometimes plummet. How do you create a home that embraces everything nature has to offer?

The answer comes in the form of automated Breezway Powerlouvres cascading down the wall of the entryway. Timed to a schedule or controlled through a mobile app, the windows can be easily opened to enjoy a sea breeze or closed for comfort when the temperature drops. Powerlouvres can also be set to automatically open and close in response to built-in temperature sensors, making it easy to retain the ideal temperature all day. The Designory team were inspired to make open living spaces that help create new, lifelong memories with family and friends. To achieve this, they placed a Quantum Cavity Stacking Doors in the main living area, which slides away into the wall to seamlessly unite inside and out, allowing the open plan interior to flow out to the beautiful alfresco space and glistening pool. The living area is whatever it needs to be – a place to entertain family and friends or a sunny sanctuary to unwind and relax.

But with all this play comes much-needed rest. The bedrooms were created to be places of escape and solitude, spaces to unwind and read a book while enjoying the Villa's trademark embrace of fresh subtropical air and light. In the twin suites, Quantum Stacking Doors open up to a private garden - allowing gentle breezes and natural light to breathe life into the spaces.
